Minimalism & My Journey with it

There are a lot of articles out there telling you the benefits of Minimalism and I have been looking forward to decluttering my life myself. I have started reading this book which is considered one of the most ultimate guides for tidying up: The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo and I am really loving it.

I really love a clean and neat space, but whenever I spend days cleaning and organizing my space, I observe it just goes back to the same in few weeks, and hence it gets very demotivating and tiring to keep doing it again and again. But as suggested by Marie in her book it is because we are focused on storage and finding ways to keep our stuff. The first step of tidying is to discard.

I know it’s very difficult to get rid of things which you have collected over time, there are emotional attachments, and feeling to discard seems like a waste. But one has to see that if you are not using it then also it is a waste. I know it will be quite a difficult journey but I have full faith that the results will be fulfilling.

My Journey starts here

I am taking inspiration from Marie and also from Sadia from Pick-up Limes. She has created this 30 days minimalism guide which I am going to adapt as per me and my schedule. I might not complete this complete declutter process in 30 days as supposed to what suggested by Marie to do everything at once owing to my work and other commitments, but I will aim for perfection as again suggested by Marie in her book.

The reason I am publishing this on my blog is to make myself accountable and maybe inspire someone willing to take the same journey but holding themselves back. I may not follow it in the same order as I have to fit in my work and other plans. But I plan to work on all of them.

What will be sorted & decluttered?
