The Wandering Inn Read Along : Ch 1.19R

Recap

Erin win back the money and was finally able to buy all the things she needed. She also changed the name of her inn.

Let’s read further

Ryoka, I have heard this name many times in some of the book reviews(haven’t read a lot but some). And hence I believe it would be major character.

And there are lords and ladies, I love some feudal drama. And does this world also have USA and New York? I am intrigued how it will all play out.

I don’t know why I thought Ryoka is male. But clearly I am wrong.

iPod? Does Ryoka also slipped into this world from the crack or teleportation?

‘Coming to this world’ I think I am on the right track.

I am not sure how important is Lady Magnolia’s character. Seems important to be introduced but doesn’t left any impression on me as a reader.

At the end

After only finishing the chapter I noticed the letter R with the chapter number. I think it must be to denote Ryoka’s chapter. I am convinced that she is also a traveler like Erin but I need to read more to form any opinion about her.

Recap

Erin went back to the city to get back her swindled money. Lism got her into a chess match to win back the money and Erin is kicking a** in the game.

Let’s read further

I knew that Erin will turn out to be a great chess player.

Why is Erin sharing so many details about grandmasters and chess. Couldn’t it be dangerous?

Good that Erin finally stopped and Klb saved her in time.

I know that the female Gnoll was right to be offended but in Erin’s defense it was her first time in the city and she had a bad encounter with the Gnolls at the adventurer’s guild.

Erin got a new ally in Krisha it seems.

Truth stone, why I feel that it is going to be useful in the story. And Krisha is definitely holding some information about it.

‘It’s kill or be killed’ well what would you expect from a fantasy world.

Now this is huge. We get to the title of the story and the story begins now. Well, I am excited.

At the end

I feel with this chapter the author has set up the world and some initial characters. Along with Erin, we the readers are now somewhat familiar and used to this world. I am hoping the coming chapters will help expand more on the plot line.

Recap

Erin made peace with goblins by offering them food and kindness.

Let’s read further

That’s the way Erin, go with confidence. I am with you girl.

I have a feeling that Erin’s knowledge of chess is going to be useful in this world and also serve as some plot device.

I think I know that Erin is going to beat Olesm, but I would be surprised if the narrative moves somewhere else.

Oh ho, I am sure that Erin has played more than 100 games.

Is Erin going to gain new skill after this game? That would be exciting and I think it would also establish her in the eyes of city folks.

Conclusion

The chapter finished without telling how the game ends but I obviously moved to next one to see what happened. And it is ‘checkmate’. I am excited to see if Erin gets the skill or not and if yes, then how will it help her.

Recap

Klb comes to check out on Erin and learned about the whole episode about Goblins. He also recognizes that Erin is not from this world. And concludes the chapter by punching Relc.

Let’s read further

Erin reaction is very understandable. You don’t snap out of killing someone irl so quickly.

Someone please control Relc from doing anything stupid further.

Why is the rock crab suddenly attacking Erin in the inn?

Such an empathetic perspective to see goblins. They seem more like hungry misunderstood species to me.

I can picture the whole scene of hungry goblins looking at food and then at Erin with their big wide eyes. Oh, it will be such a good anime. Will there be an anime adaptation? On that note, I need to check out the graphic novel adaptation as I am further in the book.

Closing Thoughts

What a sweet and heartwarming chapter. My heart was totally melting reading the whole interaction between Erin and goblins. I hope Erin can sleep better now.

Recap

There was a fight between Erin and Goblin Chieftain and Erin killed the goblin by pouring hot oil on him.

Let’s read further

So, it seems like I am right in guessing that antman are from the lower strata of this society.

Nice of Klb to check on Erin. I like him more than Relc so far.

The medicines in this world are highly effective. Wonder it is skill or magic?

I am surprised how perceptive Klb is. He is the first one to recognize that Erin is not from here.

There are reanimation of the dead bodies in this world. This sounds really ominous. Maybe something to do with necromancy.

A very strong sense of ethics shown by Erin by asking Klb not to kill the goblins. Otherwise it is total hypocrisy.

Finally some explanation of levels and classes.

Such an empathy after being a subject of an outburst. Klb, I do respect you.

Now thinking in retrospect it was rather careless of Relc to behead two goblins and then leave Erin unprotected when he knows that goblins has such bad reputation.

They don’t even touch Klb. I am disliking the people of Liscor less and less.

Relc really had this punch coming for him. Well done Klb.

Closing Thoughts

I haven’t noticed much for Klb in the presence of Relc. But his character really shined through in this chapter. Looking forward to read more of him.

Recap

Erin gives proper burial to the dead goblins. The chief of the goblins is back to take revenge

Let’s read further

Is the chieftain crying?

What the hell is happening here with removing clothes and all? This is the least I was expecting in this world.

Oh this was much more gore than I expected. I thought it is a cozy fantasy and slice-of-life novel. Then what is this with all this stabbing and burning.

Closing Thoughts

This was a very small chapter. I hope all this brutality will pay off in plot line. I am not here to read gore for the sake of reading gore.

Recap

Erin got swindled in the city. Relc in an attempt to make up with Erin, creates more problem for her by killing two goblins.

Let’s read further

My reaction would be something similar on seeing two severed heads.

It is a fair notion to bury these goblins but my first thought is if it is even a known custom for the goblins too. What if they see as some form of further insult. Oh, maybe I think too much

Oh ho, here comes the trouble. Hope Relc is here to clean up the mess he created.

Nope, it’s Erin alone who has to face this situation. I have hope that the little goblin might be able to change something in favor of Erin. Let’s see.

Closing Thoughts

Ok, it’s tough now to stop at this point and not read the next chapter. But I have decided to go slow with this one. Read only one chapter a day as any person following the web serial release will do.

Recap

Erin finally takes the trip to the city and find it larger than she has imagined.

Let’s read further

I feel that ant man are also from the lower strata of this society.

I bet that drake is trying to con Erin. Stay put girl.

No, I am feeling so sorry for Erin. I hate tricksters.

Will Relc help Erin? Please do. Please don’t hold any grudge.

Overhearing getting bad mouthed by someone you consider your friend. Worst feeling ever.

Now getting attacked by Goblins. Definitely a bad day for Erin.

Relc is here. He is a good friend. A little blabber-mouthed but still good at heart.

~~~~
There are characters within the goblins too. It would be too early to classify them good and bad without knowing much about their story. Little goblin for sure seems like a friend.
Don’t tell that Relc just killed the two goblins. It’s can’t be. Relc you are brute really. Creating more problems for Erin. They were just trying to get food, like any other creature fending for themselves. Erin also stole egg from the giant bird to feed herself. Ahh this is bad.
Closing Thoughts
I don’t know whether I am projecting my emotions onto Erin, but I feel very bad for Erin. I do admire her strength and the will to carry on yet it doesn’t make it any less painful.
Recap
Erin stumbling into this world doesn’t seem to be an accident. There is some magic ritual performed by mage. And there are more humans in this world than we know.
Let’s read further
Let the city adventure begin.
She is smelling and off to the city. I thought she will go to stream to take a bath. But fair idea to buy soap first.
The goblins are keeping an eye at her in earlier chapters too. Wondering what they are up to. Sounds like trouble to me.
There is nothing happening but I am really enjoying this build of this colorful city and interesting characters. A medieval European city with a good sewer system, take me there please.
Adventurer’s Guild for catching monsters in every city. Definitely we are going to meet a lot of monsters here.
So, there are more human communities in the north of this world.
Now, wait this Gnoll thing is being racist. I don’t like them.
Closing Thoughts
I am really liking the change in scenery in this chapter. Getting to see more of this world than only a dilapidated inn. Funny enough I had a smile on my face the whole time Erin was describing the city.
The Wandering Inn Read Along : Interlude
Recap
Erin saves Pisces from Relc but chucks him out of the inn.
Let’s read further
There are two moons. Aren’t we still on Earth?
Ok, expanding on this world and magic system. That is exciting. I am wondering if this is the magic ritual that opened some portal for Erin to fall in this world.
People with smartphones, I am definitely in the right direction.
‘The great heroes of prophecy’ is this a chosen one trope?
Are these children also fallen from this magic portal? Lost around in weird clothes?
So, there are many people in this world like Erin.
Closing Thoughts
A lot of weird things happened in this chapter, much of it I don’t understand. But it offers some explanation of Erin being here in this world. And many more like her.
