The Wandering Inn : Ch 1.00

A girl found an inn in the middle of nowhere and the inn is totally decrepit.

The girl doesn’t belong to this world as it is mentioned few times till now. And this world has dragons and goblins. Well that is exciting.

Also we got her name: Erin Solstice, quite a witchy name.

So, Erin finds a dilapidated inn in the middle of nowhere, and she has dust allergy and within five minutes she decided that she has to clean it up. One thing for sure Monica is going to be so proud of her.

Seems like she is a chess player too. Interesting stuff for a fantasy genre.

Phone and Lightning are mentioned, so it’s definitely not a medieval fantasy setup. But there is an old inn. Hmm, let’s see where it goes.

Bathroom teleportation, virtual reality: seems like a sci-fi setup now.

Ooo, maybe she stumbled into this medieval fantasy world from a modern world via some magical portal.

Ok, this is the longest creative writing piece I have read on someone claiming stairs. Definitely could use an editor.

She was cleaning so she can distract herself from her fears. Now, I can understand that. I also do it sometimes.

Wooo, what is this ending? Has she stumbled inside a video game? At least that got me intrigued to read the next chapter.

I just found out about one of the longest fantasy series out there, and after looking into it, I realized it has a steadily growing fanbase. When I say long, I mean long—we’re talking over 15 million words and counting. If you’ve already guessed, yes, it’s The Wandering Inn by pirateaba.

I’m still debating whether diving into another unfinished series is the best idea, but hey, points for trying something new, right? I’m not committing to the entire series just yet, but I’m definitely giving the first book a shot. I’ll keep you posted!

Seems like the book club for which I was reading Butter moved it out to August, so putting it on hold. I’ll pick it back up closer to the new date to stay fresh for the discussion.

After a heavy read, I am in a mood for a cozy mystery for the weekend. My next read: Butter by Asako Yuzuki

Reading vs Listening

Happy Friday!

I’ve been into audiobooks for about 4-5 years now. Most of my reading comes from audiobooks, except for graphic novels. I usually follow the text while listening, but I rarely read with my eyes anymore. This has helped me read more books each year since I can listen while moving around and adjust the speed.

Recently, I’ve been trying a mix of audio and just text for my last two books. For some reason, it feels really refreshing. Listening to both text and audio has always been engaging, but I feel more connected to the characters and the story when I read only the text. Is this true? Or maybe the books I’m reading are just really good, and I should try more to see if I feel the same way?

Next destination for my project Books Beyond Border is El Salvador. My first pick is The Wind Knows My Name by Isabel Allende.

Do share any resources(books, videos, podcasts, articles) to help learn more about this country.

It’s one of those Tuesday mornings where motivation feels far off. All I want to do is curl up with my book and escape into its pages, ignoring the chaos of the world outside. But the reality is calling, and I know I can’t just drift away. Maybe I can carve out an hour for myself first, just enough time to lose myself in a story before diving into the day. Sometimes, a little escape is just what we need to face what’s ahead.

I learnt a new word today and I found it quite fascinating. This was an adjective used to describe the book ‘Piranesi’ by Susanna Clarke.

Reading report for May. Most of my reading for this month was focused on reading Arizona. It was overall satisfactory month. I am also getting back to read mangas, so that is quite exciting too.
