“That was what I’d always loved about reading, what had driven me to write in the first place. That feeling that a new world was being spun like a spiderweb around you and you couldn’t move until the whole thing had revealed itself to you.”
Plot Overview
January Andrews is a best selling author of romance genre and Augustus Everett is an popular litrarary fiction. They are polar opposites in the writing style as well as personality. But both of them are going through a writer’s block and chance to meet each other in neighbouring beach houses in Michigan. They took a challenge to write book in each other’s genre but towards the end this challenge will also turn their perspective towards happily ever after.
My Experience Reading it
I don’t have an appetite for romance as a main course. I love it when it served on sides. And that’s what I expected when I picked this book. I hoped that the major portion will be on an author’s journey to write a book, their struggles, blocks, how a book shapes up based on author’s research and experiences. And there will be a love angle on the sidelines.
But I guess it was the quite the opposite. The book was too heavy on romance for my liking. I don’t have any complaints with the book as such. It has all the elements that you expect from a best selling romance genre. Yeah, there are a lot cliched bit, but I guess readers of this genre do like such elements. So, I am not going to critique a book harshly just because it’s the genre which I don’t enjoy as such.
I do love the elements where author actually takes us through the creative journey of the writing the book. And I was hoping to read more of it.
So, I don’t think I have much to say about this book. You can check this one out if you like contemporary romance.
