“It’s okay to be scared. Being scared means you’re about to do something really, really brave.”

Summary

Ghosts follows Catrina and her younger sister Maya. They move to the foggy town of Bahía de la Luna, hoping the coastal air will help Maya’s cystic fibrosis. But the town has a secret, it’s known for its ghosts, especially during Día de los Muertos. While Maya is fascinated by the idea of spirits, Cat is hesitant and afraid. As the sisters adjust to their new life, they discover that facing fears, embracing culture, and cherishing family are all part of growing up.

My Experience

I started and finished this graphic novel in a single sitting, it was that captivating. The story is cute and heartwarming, with lovable characters and a hypnotic atmosphere that pulls you in. I especially loved the small town vibe of this city. Learning about the Mexican customs like Day of the Dead and traditional food just add more layers to this story. If you’re looking for a quick, wholesome read that leaves you smiling, this one’s a gem.

“The more you talk about something, the less power it has over you.”
